25 things that you might want to keep for your kids Jan 29, 2016

Throughout my kid’s childhood years, I remember receiving so many gifts that really did not get put to good use. These albums could make a unique gift for someone having a baby, a Christening, starting school or graduating from school.

One good thing about the Inicio Album is that it did force me to be a little more selective about what I chose to keep. Each pocket can comfortably hold 30 pages or more, with the pockets having extra strength as they are plastic-coated. Below is a list of 25 things that I have stored in my kid’s albums over the years:

My list

  1. Birth certificates
  2. Baptism certificates
  3. Sacramental certificates
  4. Immunisation records
  5. Sporting certificates
  6. School report cards
  7. Extra-curricular reports (flute, singing, sax, speech and drama etc)
  8. Student of the week awards
  9. Sporting team photos
  10. Class photos or individual school photos
  11. First drawing
  12. Special essays or pieces of my kid’s writing
  13. Memorable school piece (e.g. one I really liked was a year 5 piece that asked my son what he wanted to be when he grew older – to which he answered – “a movie designer”)
  14. Programs for concerts that they have performed in
  15. Special birthday cards
  16. School memorabilia from class-mates (perhaps a special invitation)
  17. School trip – special photos
  18. Special holiday memorabilia (e.g. from travels)
  19. Academic merit certificates
  20. High School Certificate
  21. School reference
  22. TAFE certificate
  23. Special photos (these aren’t always displayed, being a handy place to store them)
  24. Selected school newsletters (might have a photo or segment worth keeping)
  25. University Degree certificate

Surprise someone with this unique gift idea

Some of you may have your own special traditions around what you keep and don’t keep. Yesterday I spoke to a mum who has all of her children’s first teeth and hair from their first hair cut! Plenty of room for these too.
